I am busy planning next years year 11 PowerPoint presentation to aid the completion of their landscape project. An artist all art teachers love to use is Beatriz Milhazes she ticks a lot of boxes including young female and from a land with a different culture ie a positive role model for working class white girls that I teach and makes a change from the very lovely Misses Kahlo and O'Keefe. Then via a Google search I trip over the beautiful work by Julie Evans on http://www.julieevans.blogspot.com/ on Dear Adas blog a perfect find because the girls love to use a Spirograph.

Dragonfly

As I checked my mothers wood block print into the basket I slipped a pretty print in for me (see above) and then guess what flew into my face on the way home? the very same, a Dragonfly. Fate or Coincidence? of course I had my brand new box fresh Lumix to hand or rather stuck in a sock at the bottom of my bag. So once I extricated it from the end of the sock I pressed the button and beep beep beep I forgot to take the lens cap off...... This camera is going to take a lot of getting used to. God knows what the lens setting was on. Not a camera for spontaneity.

I have not commented on a couple of topical issues Sex and the City the film well I am English so I will withhold judgement with toes and fingers crossed. Lets hear it for sex and the 40+ woman... will it be sexy? I bloody well hope so. Second very big lapse of the week is Couture week I have seen fragments via the papers and was so utterly terrified by Diors frill fest meets My Fair Lady I have hid behind the sofa ever since but the weekend beckons wish me luck.

Happy Birthday Everyone..

I have this little sister Julia she's large and very tubby...I did mean to wish her Happy Birthday but no one knows I write this but hey Happy Birthday Julia (24th May). I sent her a piece of art work but received no reply so I guess it was not liked. Luckily mum gave her a day at Hugh Fearnley Whittingstalls cottage to learn how to preserve & pickle and trust me this was her best pressie ever because she loves to pickle & preserve her foraged produce and rumour has it she makes a mean Mead too. She just got a promotion which puts her in danger of becoming a bone fide career girl, sadly she has a bit of a thing about witchcraft which put a big barrier up between us ( I just do not understand...) Talking of sisters the birthday season is upon me

More bizarre is that both Daisy and Kitty's due date was the 25th July But Daisy was early (the first and last time) Kitty was late (ouch) and Lucy's actual birth date was 24th but never send a man....

Lifestyle envy

The new issue of Selvedge arrived last week with lots to tempt but little to afford. Two pieces really caught my eye the first from http://www.lin-net.com/ a beautiful site selling very desirable linen in many guises. Since studying at Camberwell School of Art I have always loved linen, the texture and the way it ages so beautifully the photos from the web site ooze lifestyle envy. I would love to wear a cream skirt but paint and cream does not make for a good look so I am invariably shrouded in dark colours.
