Ones to watch

Last weekend I finally saw Paris, Je Taime which is absolutely brilliant, the most visually stunning film was by Gus Van Sant, the location and lighting was beautiful. The best film by far for me was Tuileries by the Coen brothers, Steve Buscemi is just awesome.
This weekend I watched Babel, brilliant but so very depressing.

Shadow

I seem to be devloping a bit of a 'thing' for shadows.

Thought for the day

Gloria Swanson once said " I have decided that when I am a star, I will be every inch and every moment the star"
I think Mrs Beckham has taken this baton and run a long way with it. I do not usually buy English Vogue but I was seduced by its cover featuring lovely Mrs Beckam and interviewed by Alexandra Shulman, those that knock her forget that she has earned her stripes at a very young age and if this is how she chooses to live her life then let her be. Better this than the Lyndsay's and Brittany's of this world. As for setting a 'bad body image' example to children I find it strange that she is derided by the same people that lap up Carine Roitfeld of french Vogue, her recent interview regarding her attitude to size left me speechless and I suspect it will leave her crippled.
The difference between the views of these editors is amazing Shulman comes over as an almost accidental fashion observer whilst Roitfeld seems to live and breathe the world of fashion.
The added bonus to buying Vogue was a great article by Linda Grant about letting go of the detritus we keep from our past, although her analogy that taking a beloved handbag to a charity shop is like a mother taking a child to school and never seeing it again was a bit misguided. Let me tell Ms Grant nothing ever prepares you for the wrench of taking your off spring to school and it is not like letting go of a handbag. The article did remind me of when I cleared up my sisters flat and finding the outfit she wore to my wedding! as well as other fashion crimes that should have been bagged and donated years ago. I am ruthless and cling onto very little, when I was a young teenager I made a patchwork quilt from my much loved clothes which I still have, but generally I get a lot of pleasure from letting go.

The view from here

What a difference a camera makes above is the Lumix on zoom, which tends to bleach everything out, this is the view from the new block as you can see I was bored because I forgot my bag of bits and so did no painting.

This is with the Pentax, which gives a much richer picture. Sadly the Pentax is on its way back to the supplier, the stupid battery case has jammed and having got used to a decent camera I am now lost.

Yumi Mina

How lovely are these? I found them on EBay, too 'young' for me but very pretty all the same.

Magnolia

The colour Magnolia has such naff connotations in the world of decorating, yet the colour bears no relationship to the colour of the flower which is very subtle and very beautiful,

Exactitudes

The women above right are all from the City of Bordeaux, I saw many women dressed like this and even more specifically than the a large group of middle aged women who wore a summer dress layered over a long full skirt. The women on the right represent what I think of as my idealised middle aged 'Art teacher' look, although in reality they are from Amsterdam, I do love their look.

The Women on the left maybe from Bordeaux, but they truly do look like English Art teachers, on the left is a look from Rio de Janeiro but reminds me of my mother sunbathing in the garden!!

Finally Daisy's tribe is most definitely on the right, I wish the look on the left was me, I miss my Days wearing Jeans, but they are not allowed at work and I don't find them comfortable enough for slumming it around the house.
More here Versluis and Uyttenbroek explained here
This duo are coming to town and what rich pickings they will find, One of the elements of London I miss when I go abroad is that je ne sais quois WTF factor, most women on the continent are so tame or tasteful, but within mutes of hitting English soil their she was Ms WTF.
My school is divided cleanly into 3 tribes, the Chav, the Emo and then those who just can not be bothered. During the recent trip to the Tate Modern I called a group of girls over only to realise they were not from our school, they truly looked identical, yet when the girls from my school realised I had mixed them up they were really unhappy, they each believe their look is unique.
